Fat Bark...?

So I'm my neck of the woods, there's lots of big Ponderosa Pines, with very thick bark. It's pretty common to see a large portion of bark neer the base of a tree that is very yellow with dried pitch all over it. Many times, if you grab a chunk of bark and pull it loose, it will be absolutely saturated with Rosin, distributed through all the layers. It's not sticky at all, so it won't make a mess of your hands, and is easy to break up into a pile, ready to burn.
