Help me with my curls?

So, of my two fixed blade knives.... I can make a lot of good curls with the ESEE 6, and some pretty junk ones with the other knife. Any hints on what I am doing wrong, or is a kephart just not very good for curls? The kephart is in magna cut and is razor sharp, the 6 is fairly sharp though too.
