I have a woodstove and make a LOT of kindling.
I use a small axe to reduce log size, and then finish with batoning (using a Mora Robust and a small log).
It's pleasant enough work, and twenty minutes splitting in the barn gets you kindling for a few days or more.
The Robust (and I imagine any strong, thicker knife) does a fine job, and is very sturdy.
But....
I'm always thinking that a dedicated, custom shaped "batoning" blade would work much better.
Basically, wedge shaped! It wouldn't...
